Colon Cancer Doesn't Observe Holidays
8/16/2012
Maintaining gastrointestinal health could not only protect you from colon cancer, but it could also increase your overall health. With colon cancer ranking third in cancer-related deaths in the U.S., taking proper care of your colon is vital.
Here are some tips:
- Eat more fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. Lessen your intake of saturated fats and red meats, replacing them with more fruits, vegetables and fish.
- Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water and other fluids throughout the day regulates movement through the colon.
- Exercise regularly. Fitting in a half hour of cardio three to five days a week and maintaining your weight can help take pressure off the colon.
- Take a multivitamin to boost your overall immunity.
If you are having indigestion regularly, or other issues regarding regular bowel movements, it might be a good idea to consider a colonoscopy. Please consult with your physician for more advice on maintaining proper colon health.
