Dr. Marybeth Spanarkel has practiced Clinical Gastroenterology in Durham for almost 20 years. A native of Jersey City, N.J., she was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y. She attended medical school at Duke University, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Dr. Spanarkel did her Internship and Residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa. and her Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, Digestive Disease Branch, and the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. She is listed in the “Top Doctors in America”, a winner of the Duke Family Practice Community Teaching Award, and a member of the Duke Alumni Career Center. Dr. Spanarkel is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and is a Fellow in the American College of Gastroenterologists.
