Melissa Rich, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Melissa Rich received her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Rich and her family moved to Chapel Hill in 2000. She received her Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree and a Certificate in Health Outcomes and Quality of Care from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill while serving on the clinical faculty there. Dr. Rich helped to author a publication that assisted the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force in evaluating new evidence on the effectiveness of different colorectal cancer screening methods. Dr. Rich joined Regional Gastroenterology in 2002. She is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
